
Defending the default commits us to the current state. The motivation to maintain the status quo, even when at odds to our interest, cause many to just defend the current state. This argues against originality.

My sabbatical is meant to break out of current defaults and challenge myself to new views: travel, new language immersion, practice new skills – all part of challenging assumptions.
