Artificial Intelligence is ~70 years old.
20 years ago The Economist wrote about AI.
In 2010 Wired wrote about AI in 2010.
In 2011 I wrote about AI.
Why the rush now? Fear of being left behind?
Now organizations race to catch up. The reality seems to bring monthly changes. Everyone wants to claim a seat at a table that has existed for decades, but trends rarely appear suddenly.
Why does AI feel new? One reason was the practicality of cloud infrastructure to meet 1950s aspiration, itself, needed to overcome corporate skeptics corporate skeptics. However, the real question is not why AI is everywhere now.
The real question remains and strategic: does business understand their data, understand their process, understand governance to align AI possibility?
Reflection creates the space to see early indicators. Confusion grows when we rush to react instead of better understanding.
